Year after year, generation after generation, the close connection between Day Kimball Healthcare and the residents of Northeast Connecticut is renewed again and again through a unique spirit of giving – a relationship characterized by people caring for the hospital that cares for them. Starting with Mrs. M. Day Kimball’s original donation of $5,000 in 1894, that philanthropic spirit has been critical to Day Kimball and its impact transformational. Thanks to thousands of donors and thousands of gifts of all sizes, voluntary support and service has paved the way for every major evolution of program and services at Day Kimball since its founding.
Incorporated on October 1, 2018, the role of the Day Kimball Healthcare Foundation is to ensure that tradition of giving continues through philanthropic initiatives with the sole purpose of supporting quality healthcare in the community, and the lifesaving work performed at DKH.
Gifts to the Foundation directly benefit Day Kimball Hospital and its programs and services, as well as direct patient care through a variety of services that would not otherwise be afforded to patients and their families through insurance.
Give Now | Cash Donation
The easiest and most popular way to benefit your favorite charitable organization is through a cash donation. When you itemize deductions on your income tax return, your charitable gift provides an immediate, tax-saving charitable deduction, and your prompt action allows us to meet Day Kimball Healthcare’s most pressing needs. (Please note that for the 2022 tax year, a deduction of up to 60% of your AGI is a allowed on charitable cash contributions to qualified charities.)
Planned Giving
Planned gifts are usually deferred, meaning they are arranged now and fulfilled later. There are several different types of planned gifts - all are wonderful ways to leave a meaningful legacy in support of a cause that's close to your heart. Some of these vehicles can include a simple bequest, life insurance policies, charitable remainder and lead trusts, and charitable gift annuities among others.
Gifts of Stock, Securities and Property
Gifts of stocks or other securities such as bonds or mutual fund shares held for more than one year are deductible at full, present fair market value, with no tax on the appreciation. Gifts of tangible property, if we can use it for a purpose related to our exempt function, is also deductible at current fair market value up to 30% of your adjusted gross income, with no tax on the appreciation.
